Indiana University School of Medicine – Indianapolis, IN
Dr. Domenico Savatta has been practicing in West Orange, NJ, since 2003. He strives to care for each patient as he would a family member. Whether the problem is easy to fix or complicated, he understands the patient’s concerns and will tailor the treatment plan for each patient’s individual needs.
He graduated Tau Beta Pi and summa cum laude from The Cooper Union for Advancement of Science and Art with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1993. He then attended SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine and was an AOA graduate. Thereafter, he completed a six-year residency in urology at the prestigious Indiana University Medical Center, which is world-renowned for the treatment of testicular cancer and other urologic malignancies.
Dr. Savatta’s practice is devoted to adult urology, with a focus on the treatment of enlarged prostate (BPH), prostate cancer, and other urologic cancers. He started performing robotic surgery in 2003 by utilizing his background in engineering and completing open and laparoscopic surgical training from Indiana University. He became one of the first in the area to perform many of the robotic surgeries that are still performed today.
In 2006, Dr. Savatta was the first daVinci® S robotic instructors in the northeast to perform the first televised robotic surgery for kidney cancer. He has published papers with national leaders describing how to perform robotic inguinal hernia surgery during robotic prostatectomy and robotic partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer.
