Melissa Torres

Melissa Torres, APN is a member of the Summit Health Urology team. Her journey to nursing began with caring for the elderly and the developmentally delayed. This sparked her interest in caring for those who could not care for themselves while being an advocate for quality competent healthcare.

With over 13 years of experience in the field, Melissa has a wealth of knowledge in dealing with critically ill patients. This experience helps her care for patients with varying medical needs. She believes that every patient is different, and healthcare should be individualized to their needs, preferences, and values.

Melissa values trust and respect between her and her patients. “Most important to me is having my patients feel that they can trust me enough to be honest and truthful about their health and healthcare goals,” she says. This clear communication helps her patients become active in their care and make informed decisions on their needs.

Outside of work, Melissa’s two daughters are her number one priority. They love to travel and spend time together. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, and lounging at the beach with a good book is her favorite summer pastime. Advocacy and education are causes close to her heart. With two autistic nephews and family and friends treated for different cancers, she’s driven to be a provider that can provide emotional support while assisting them in making decisions that can be difficult.
